tagged!
i have been tagged twice, so before it slips my mind let me get down to it ...
Rules:
-Post six weird facts/habits about yourself. These cannot be used against you later on.
-At the bottom name the six people you will tag next.
-Leave them a comment to let them know they've been tagged and to read your blog.
1. i love chocolate and i adore icecream. a combination of the two is just heavenly. i will eat chocolate ripple icecream, icecream with chocolate swirls on top, chocolate ice cream (yum yum gimme some!) but i refuse to eat chocolate chip ice cream. or even worse, icecream with little bits of chocolate chip cookies in them (gag!) everytime i try to i get sick, literally. oh, and if i order sprinkles and they look to chunky i'll pass on the icecream, cos my tummy knows the difference. if i add the chocolate chips myself then maybe it would be bearable but not if its done by someone else.
2. i refuse to drink anything with milk out of a flask (you know the kind i mean. those ones that are a staple in 95% of kenyan housholds for the purpose of serving tea) one, i only drink tea like once every couple of years and even then i make it myself cos i have been traumatised before by badly made tea and flasks that are not cleaned properly. two, i prefer to have whatever i'm drinking to be "fresh" i.e from the sufuria/birika straight to my cup, if it's lingered anywhere else i'd rather not have any. as you can imagine, i am in a dilemma when i go to visit someone i don't know very well, cos when i tell them i don't drink tea they then proceed to heat up some milk then put it in a flask (groan!) and give me either drinking chocolate or milo and tell me "karibu". if i start going on about the milk - water ratio needed to make the perfect cup of milo it will take ages thus the reason that most people who know me just tell me to go to the kitchen and make my own milo.
lol, i am starting to see why i have been told that i can be a control freak when the situation arises. moving on!
3. i usually sleep like a frog in mid leap when i am alone in bed but if i'm sharing i always end up on the right side. this has been the trend since forever. i don't know why that is.
4. i'm a bit of a scaredy cat in that i dont like sleeping in total darkness and total silence if i am alone. it has to be either one or the other or someone has to be with me in the room. that is the reason i like some form of light in the room as i sleep and some background noise like the radio. the intensity of the light and the degree of noise i can stand is a different matter all together (good lord, i really am a control freak) but i'm not really particular about that cos i have been known to fall asleep in the wierdest of places and situations.
5. i don't listen to the radio alot but when i do the station i listen to most is my local National Public Radio station. this is because as much as i put songs i like on repeat, there is only so many times i can listen to danni california by red hot chili peppers (their stadium arcadium album rocks by the way) before i tear my hair out by the roots. the banter most presenters have is nauseating and it usually goes like this
presenter 1: rumour has it that paris hilton took a dump yesterday.
presenter 2: really? what was she wearing?
presenter 1: according to the picture on the cover of (insert gossip mag of choice here) she had on some fabulous gucci sunglasses on.
presenter 2: well folks, there you have it. call in and let us know what you think.
then people will call in and comment on how she shouldn't be taking a dump cos she is a celebrity, asking how bad it stank and wondering where they can get those "to die for" designer shades.
commercial radio? no thanks.
6. this one was actually pointed out to me by someone else. i crack my knuckles alot, especially when i'm bored, nervous or i have been sitting to long at one place. thing is, i can't stop at one finger. i have to crack all my fingers twice. it gets worse when i have been sitting too long in one place and i haven't had a chance to move around cos i crack my fingers, then my elbows, then my toes, then my back ... as you can imagine, people hate sitting anywhere near me during those exams that are like 3 hours long cos it will be crack, crack, crack every half an hour.
i, spicey, hereby tag sandie and stunuh in the hope that they will resurface in blog land once again; uaridi, afromusing, shiro and kelitu cos i can.
now that i have fulfilled my tag duties, let's move on to discussing the funkiest man in africa.
note: for all you people who already knew about him, why didn't you share? spread the love dammit!
for those who don't know what i'm talking about you can start off with this afrofunk rant that i have pilfered from their website.
AN AFROFUNK RANT
NO: You won't see our Music video on MTV or VHI!
NO: You won't hear our latest shit on a top 40 radio station! This kinda shit is too heavy for their demographic or target audience to digest.
NO: You won't see a glossy spread of us on Rolling Stones or Billboard Magazine. When's the last time you saw an AFRICAN musician on the cover of the Rolling Stones?
NO: You won't hear our Africanized funk on a gas guzzling GMC or FORD SUV television ad.
YES! What you will get is gritty, heavy, hard-hitting, James Brown infused Africanized funk from cats that have been playing on the
scene for more than 20 years. It's simple, we make people dance!
i'm talking about sila and the afrofunk experience who i just heard about. their music is awesome and the "funkiest man in africa" album is most definately worth a listen. have a listen to "wanibamba and "dancing shoes" and see what i mean. now that i've shared, don't say that you didn't know.

Spicey, we can live in harmony because I usually leave my lights on and have the telly on as background noise.
Thanks for the tag(?)
NPR is the best for real news! And they do cool programs featuring people around the world.

bed hoggging.........hmmm I wondr if that's something to look foward to? and are you sure you always end up on the right? I can think of and incident or two where tht might not be fact. and whatyou mean right? when your on your back or on your tummy? when facing the bed or away from the bed? Right is relative, right?
nad ambia anyone with intenetions of blacking ou out I have a very very big gun and i know how to use it. LOLOHJT!
That cracking all the bones in your body just got me, wa that would be mighty scary coz how will I know you have not broken something.
@ akiey

that sila dude is simply the coolest! by the way, look out for more links coming soon - you can thank me later.
@ mr. teddy
repeat after me:
"a BB gun is not an assault rifle. my BB gun is not an assault rifle". thought i would remind you, thats all. :-D
and as for me and the right side, nione kando before laundry ends up being common knowledge. as a by the way ... nah, i wont do that here, but you know where i was going with this, ama? haha.
@ prousette
i figure that now is a bad time to let you know that i can crack my neck too? and nothing gets broken, but it sure does sound like it sometimes.
I know a bb gun aint an assault rifle. But then again you cant be sure. maybe its an assault rifle disguised as a BB gun to throw off suspicion. and what were you hinting at before you decide to lenga. I do not know where it was going. aki!
Hey Spicey? How are you? I got tagged too, its an effort.
Say jambo sometime...

@ shiro

Ah, I love chocolate chip ice cream. But having people enjoy different flavors makes the world a much more interesting place. :)
What I do have in common with you is my love of NPR. They carry so many good programs both musical and educational in my area.
lol, you're pretty 'interesting'
I kinda share your feelings about flasked-milk
Spicey - Happy Friday and have a spledid weekend, hope you had a good 4th.
@ tim rice
you are right, and it's the news aspect of NPR that has made me a fan. and as for your like for chocolate icecream, different folks different strokes
@ kayliz
thank you for your "compliment" (how come no one told me that we were doing the whle quote unqoute thing? haha.
@ bj
my fourth was easy like sunday morning, thanks for asking.
Just dropping by to say hello. I hope all is well with you.
That tagging stuff takes life out of you. Hey come back. Need something spicey in my world right about now.
Hope you are well. Be good.
Spice bear... darkness is there for me too. I have to sleep with a night light and the radio has to be on!Its not either or, my radio has to be on and it has to be playing christian music.hehe I am so messed up. I totally blame my mother and her story telling time round the three stone fire when we'd go to gishagi. There's something those stories my mum told me when I was a kid (about shetani na jicho moja nyuma ya shingo yake and hidden by his long hair) that did alot to my ability to stay fearless in the presence of darkness. Heh, kumbe tuko wengi!
