in the nick of time

so. have been repeatedly accused of neglecting my blog (y'all know who you are) and i do admit that i have. i would blog in, look at the new post page for what seemed like an eternity and then blog out again. no inspiration whatsoever, i had bloggers block. well, kipepeo thoughtfully book tagged me, and as i sat here wondering what else to blog about before i had to go back to studying, exciting events took place - yup, a fight broke out right before my eyes. now, who says that life is not interesting?

no one is even actually sure what the fight is about, but it was clear that the instigator was rather silly and yelling all over the place. he fit right into the stereotype of the short agressive man who has something to prove. anyway, to cut out all unneccessary details (or what my mother would call grandmother stories cos their sole purpose is to be retold with even more embellishment) there was an argument, blows were exchanged and best of all there was a ringside commentary by one of those wise asses who always see to be present when such things happen. things got out of hand though when they knocked over a couple of computers and a girl who was caught in the crossfire. to their credit, campus police was quick and broke it up and charges are being filed. yup, real life is most definately more interesting.

but i digress, i was book tagged. this is clearly one of the most cruel things that could have been done to me, cos to my embarrassment, i have not read any good books recently and i kinda figure the eighth edition of chenistry by chang wont do. so ill try to make this as short and as painless as possible.

number of books that i own ...
cant really say, books change hands alot where i come from so i would say about adozen that are actually mine would be the right approximation.

last book i bought?
those of you who know me well enough have guessed it already - chemistry by chang, eighth edition. sad i know, but ive promised myself to make time for leisure reading as aoon as i hand in all my assignments and do my exams.

five books that mean alot to me ...
gosh, just five? i hate to have to choose, but i shall say the first five that come to my head in no particular order of preference

1. city of joy by dominique lapierre
amazing book and its based on the real life journey of a missionary in calcutta. its inspiring to see how much you can do for others just by thinking a little less about your self and alot more about others.

2. chronicles of narnia by c. s. lewis
okay, ive cheated abit cos this is actually a series of eight books, but i loved them all so much as a child that i just had to. they took me into a world that was wonderful and interesting and his element of fantasy is intriguing to this day.

3.black beauty by anna sewel
a timeless classic that at first i had no interest in reading until my dad pushed me to. big influence in my life as far as humane treatment to animals is concerned.

4.silas marner by george elliot
another classic, this time recommended to me by my sister. once i got through the heavy language, it was a great read.

5.short stories by edgar allan poe
the true master of horror stories ... and he wrote great poetry too so thats a plus.

last book i read?
who moved my cheese by spencer johnson ... i didnt think much of it at first but it does have a moral and thats a good thing i guess.

phew, that was relatively painless. and now i think ive gotten back the hang of blogging so ill be more regular this time, i promise!
